OPENING QUESTION: We mentioned the other day about how there are various places around our state (and around the country) that RESTRICT aircraft from flying over them. We sometimes here them called 'No Fly Zones' although that isn't technically accurate it does get the point across.
Please make a list of several such RESTRICTED areas within 25 miles of GH. GO!
Please close your books, close your computers.
Here's an ACTUAL flight/chart for Washington State.
If you click on the map a MUCH larger scale map appears. Do that now.
Take a few moments to familiarize yourself with some of the KEY items by, well, looking at the KEY in the upper left.
Each person in your group should find something in that key and explain it to the group NOW (Go!)

Many of us have driven over I-90 (Snoqualmie Pass) and on through Eastern Washington.
As we drive down the other side of the Cascades, we come across massive windmills outside Ellensburg. It might surprise you to know those are shown on this map. Find those now! (Be persistent!).
Why would winmills be on a flight map? Please discuss!

Now please go and find restricted airspace SOMEWHERE in Washington State.
Do a wee bit more research using the interweb:
Please write down and answer the following using your research:
1) What is the name of your restricted area?
2) Why is it restricted?
3) What are the actual rules for flying over that airspace (Is it illegal to fly over that area at ANY altitude or would a pilot be able to fly over that area as long as they maintained some minimum altitude for example)?
4) What are the penalties for breaking the rules and flying too low or for entering that air space?
Please DO work together and share your results as you go!

Now let's take a gander at an *actual* FAA flight plan type document:
Here is the HELP file for that
I doubt that it will come as ANY surprise that there are APPS for Flight Plans to help pilots with the specific Flight Plan specifications required by the FAA.

Now let's jump into the wonderful world of GPS...
Grab a paper strip and write down 1 - 3 items, questions, what-is-its regarding GPS
